The Verge reports that this applies to all sub-brands of the Volkswagen Group, some of which are Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche, with VW expecting the orders to pile up, adding to the existing people queuing for an EV of the German group.

Most carmakers around the world had to slow down or even stop the production of cars entirely, some of them even resorting to stripping out features from their vehicles in order to get them ready for the customers.

What isn't helping is the fact that electric vehicles also require a lot of batteries, which can be difficult to manufacture these days.

In the first quarter of 2022, Volkswagen managed to sell just under 100.000 electric cars, with Tesla managing to sell more than three times as much, with 310.000 EVs.

Diess said earlier this year that Volkswagen was trying to expand into the American market, with the CEO expecting EVs to bring the biggest growth.

At the same time, he also admitted that Volkswagen might face supply constraints in 2022, with the company now being out of EVs for the European and the American market for the rest of this year.

This means that anyone who wants to get an EV from the group has to wait until 2023, since Volkswagen tries to sort out the chip shortage and the production issues in China.
