In the newly entered markets, CarbonTool is predominantly used in real estate projects, a sector responsible for a significant share of Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The platform was specifically designed to transform these assets from climate liabilities into sustainability opportunities, using intelligent data, automation, and science-based reporting.

“Our expansion positions CarbonTool as a key catalyst for climate action in the EMEA region. We offer advanced expertise in carbon footprint analysis for complex real estate portfolios, from office buildings and industrial spaces to retail and logistics centers”, said Răzvan Nica, CEO of CarbonTool.

“This growth is a natural result of the synergy between CarbonTool and BuildGreen. In 2024 alone, our platform was used in many certification projects to quantify and reduce emissions. Together, our solutions reflect over 30 years of combined experience in sustainability consulting and green certification”, Nica added.

1.2 million tons of CO2e reduced

CarbonTool’s expansion comes at a time when ESG standards are evolving globally. With the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED v5 shifting focus from energy efficiency to carbon reduction, the need for high-performance, emissions-focused tools is greater than ever.

CarbonTool’s complex integration of emissions data, KPI management, and certification support makes it perfectly suited to this new paradigm, empowering developers, asset managers, and ESG professionals to achieve their emission goals with accuracy and transparency.

With over 6.2 million tons of CO₂e monitored and 1.2 million tons reduced across more than 900 projects in 27 countries, CarbonTool is making a significant impact. Its regional emissions database covers Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, providing contextualized accuracy for both developers and ESG teams.

Evolution: CarbonTool becomes smarter, more flexible and ESG-Ready

As part of the expansion, CarbonTool is launching a powerful suite of updates, available starting June 2025:

  • Integrated ESG Module: Full ESG management, including categories, ownership, progress tracking, and automatic consolidation, aligned with GRI, CSRD, and VSME.

  • Quantitative Data Visualization: Raw data (kWh, km, liters) displayed alongside emissions in dual graphs for clearer analysis and quicker decisions.

  • Emission Classes: Grouping of similar sources (e.g., fleets, products) for simplified reporting and efficient comparative analysis.

  • AI Data Upload: Automatic import of data from any format, with human verification for accuracy from the very first phase.

  • Custom KPIs: Create indicators based on proprietary formulas, aligned with internal goals or the ESG framework used.

  • Local Indicators: Monitoring by region and location, with specific emission factors for enhanced precision.

  • Advanced Review: Comments and file attachments directly within the platform for traceability and clearer audits.

  • Customizable Dashboard: Easily switch between tables and charts based on user preferences.

Other improvements include redesigned dashboards for a more intuitive user experience, enhanced PDF exports (including Romanian versions), optimized user flows, refined scenario views, and a multilingual UX tailored to regional needs.
