One of the companies that focuses on improving the energy efficiency of buildings is HHS Planer + Architekten AG, represented by the engineer Johannes Hegger.

The first step in making a building more energy efficiency is analyzing it and detecting any potential leaks or zones where a lot of energy is being used for no good reason.

Optimizing ventilation systems and using residual heat in order to elevate the temperature in other buildings are two of the solutions that the company used in order to save "impressive amounts of energy", according to Johannes Hegger.

The representative of HHS Planer + Architekten says that renewables also play a great role when it comes to making a building more energy efficient.

This is why all of the company's customers are interested in installing renewables, even if in a small margin, in order to be more responsible.

Solar factory 1 is one of the projects from the German company and building this facility was done with carbon neutrality in mind.

Besides the solar panels, the building was also covered with aluminum and the windows included solar panels as well for extra energy production.

Shortening the ways of communication between the various departments and the development and quality control offices also helped with making the factory more energy efficient.

The residual heat generated by the LED bulbs was captured and used to heat other interior spaces, which helped not only with economy, but also maintaining the comfort.

Other projects to improve the energy efficiency of industrial spaces

Another project of the same company is a repair center that spans over 28.000 square meters, which is similar to the solar factory, but the interior is different in design.

If the center will be extended in the future, the buildings will be optimized to deliver the best energy efficiency.

HHS Planer + Architekten has another important project in the portfolio, which is the RTunlimited industrial space that spans over 15 hectares in southern Germany.

According to Johannes Hegger, this project can produce energy continuously and it is connected to the power grid of the nearby city.

This project is an important hub for the industry 4.0 members that produce things like software solutions for logistics or IT and robotics solutions.

The hub's main building is made of aluminum, which has multiple advantages, such as the fact that the material has a long lifespan and if a demolition is imposed, the metal can be easily recycled, compared to other construction materials.

Employees are encouraged to use the public transport system, except those with special needs or guests, who have parking spots available if they need them and the parking area can accommodate trucks, as well.

Using residual thermal energy and building renovation are among the priorities for HHS Planer +Architekten, as the company representatives says that in some cases, renovating a building is cheaper than demolishing it.
