Electrive writes that existing locations will be given the main focus here and the expansion will take place at a slower pace, following Tesla's efforts to restructure the company's Supercharger management team. However, new locations will also be selected to install EV charging stations.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote that "Tesla will spend well over $500M expanding our Supercharger network to create thousands of new chargers this year."

Company officials also added that "since 2012, Charging has been a pillar of Tesla’s mission, providing dependable freedom to travel. Supercharging is the largest network globally, with the highest capital + operational efficiency, and we will continue to sustain & grow the network."

Currently, the US-based electric mobility company operates over 50.000 Supercharge points globally on major routes and recently, Tesla opened its charging stations to other car brands, as well, enabling more users to fill the batteries on their cars.
