According to Electrive, the conversion kits are coming from R-FIT, a brand that works under MCC Automotive and Renault will showcase the three electrified classic models at the annual Rétromobile show in France.

If you are nostalgic for a classic car model, but don't want to give up modern technology, then no worries, because the French carmaker is looking to bring modern electrified versions of the Renault 4 and 5 in 2024 and 2025.

At the same time, the third generation Twingo was ready for an electric drive since it was released in 2014, being built similar to a Zoe.

Check out our recent story about Fellten-turned Jaunt Motors, an EV conversion startup from Australia that gives a new life to Land Rover Defenders and Minis, among other car models, by turning them into battery-powered cars.

The retrofitting kit for the Renault 4 will be available for purchase next month, while the Renault 5 will have its conversion kit ready by September, 2023 and the first-generation Twingo will be coming at a later date.

Hugues Portron, Director of The Originals Renault, said that "these electric retrofit kits will enable people who love their classic cars and young people to drive in France in our iconic Renault 4, Renault 5 and Twingo, powered by electricity."

The Renault 4 electrification kit, which costs 11.900 euros, with tax and installation included, will comprise of a 64 HP electric motor and a 10.7kWh battery system that should allow for a range of 80 kilometers, according to the French manufacturer.

This means that this particular model will be suited mostly for short commutes around the city.

The conversion kits can be ordered online at R-FIT's website, but prices for the other two models are yet to be disclosed.
