According to Reuters, the first charging station that Renault will install will be opened in France and 200 more are to follow by mid-2024 in France, Belgium and Italy among other countries.

Charging stations are a crucial part of EV adoption, as these vehicles get less range on a full battery compared to fossil-powered vehicles.

Renault will install the new charging stations at its dealerships located in the proximity of highway exists and drivers will also have special resting places to relax during the charging times.

Renault's subsidiary Mobilize said that in order to bypass the need to install new power grid infrastructure, it will use battery storage systems that can charge as many as six EVs at the same time.

Nicolas Schottey, head of Mobilize Power Solutions, said that "this will allow us to charge these containers very gently, without disrupting the power grid."

Competitors such as Volkswagen expect to reach as many as 45.000 charging stations worldwide by 2025, while Tesla already has 30.000 superchargers installed around the world, which can give as much as 200 km worth-of range in 15 minutes of charging.
