According to Green Car Reports, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities can be useful both for powering your house during a power surge, a camper or even other EVs that need a quick top up.

A fleet of Hyundai Ioniq 5s will be used in order to power a few hotel rooms, a restaurant, a bar and a cinema.

Hyundai officials report that each EV is able to deliver AC power at 3.6 kW, which goes through an adapter, allowing appliances and electronics to be used directly from the cars' battery.

The temporary hotel will be opened in Essex, near London, for only 14 days, from October 19th to November 5th, as its role isn't as a long-term resort solution, but rather to prove that EVs can reliably power homes if needed.

Volvo will implement a similar technology on its upcoming EX90, while the students at the Technical University of Eindhoven have recently developed a car that has similar capabilities.
