According to Electrive, the Polestar 3 represents the first SUV from the company and also the first car designed from the ground up to be a Polestar.

The electric motor is able to output some 430 HP and a torque of 840 Nm, while the Performance model delivers 516 HP and 910 Nm of torque.

With a 111kWh battery, the Polestar 3 should get around 610 kilometers of range, according to preliminary info from the company, while final energy consumption and range numbers will be published sometime in 2023.

The Polestar 3 can be charged up at 11 kW of AC power, while DC fast charging is supported at up to 250 kW.

The car is also equipped with multiple security features, such as cameras, radar sensors and even an optional Lidar system, which is bound to be available in 2023.

With the help of these pieces of equipment, the car should prevent people from unintentionally leaving kids or pets behind in the vehicle.

At the same time, the Polestar 3 can even turn off the air conditioning system if the ambient temperature is too low to prevent hypothermia.

Regarding the interior of the vehicle, company officials claim that "materials used inside Polestar 3 have been selected for their sustainability credentials while raising premium aesthetics and luxury tactility."

"These include bio-attributed MicroTech, animal welfare-certified leather and fully traceable wool upholsteries", they added.

Initially, the Polestar 3 will be manufactured at Volvo's plant in China, but starting 2024, the new EV will also be manufactured in the US at Volvo's South Carolina plant.

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said that the Polestar 3 "takes our manufacturing footprint to the next level, bringing Polestar production to the United States."
