Reuters reports that Mercedes-Benz executives said that they will focus on going full electric by the end of the decade, at least in some markets.

This comes as the EU plans to ban the sales of combustion engine-based cars by 2035, if the law will get approved, while also cutting emissions in half by 2030 compared to 2020 levels per passenger car.

Joerg Burzer, production manager at Mercedes-Benz, said that "we are investing a three-digit million amount per plant for the run up."

Mercedes-Benz also aims to improve the efficiency of the factories' painting systems with a few billion dollars, but instead of focusing on fossil-free power, the company will reduce energy, water and gas consumption.
