With this expansion the total auto fleet of the service in Romania exceeds 500 electric vehicles from 6 different models. The cars are already available for SPARK’s clients in Bucharest.

The new cars will significantly increase the availability of the service in Bucharest. Dacia Spring is an electric car suitable for urban and close to urban mobility. It uses a 27 kWh battery and has a range of up to 230 km (WLTP). The Spring is currently exclusive only for Romania from all SPARK markets and will be in the low price segment of the service.

“We are very happy with the pace of our development in Romania'', commented Dimitar Stoyanov, Country manager of SPARK for Romania. ”For only two years we managed to expand our auto fleet 10 times and become the largest car sharing operator in Romania. We have more than 80,000 users and 6 different fully electric models. Being electric our cars release no harmful emissions and we target some of the most severe problems in the cities – air and noise pollution, heavy traffic and limited parking space. Each of our cars is driven by numerous different people every day and each one of them decided not to use his personal car or even not to own one. Our biggest benefit is that we managed to provide our users with the option to have a car nearby every time they need one and everywhere they need it, regardless if they need it for a couple of minutes, a day or a longer period. '' he added.

In the beginning of this year SPARK announced that it has signed an agreement with GEM Global Yield LLC SCS, a Luxembourg-based private, alternative investment group, for a EUR 30 million capital commitment.

Under the agreement, GEM commits to providing SPARK with a share subscription facility of up to EUR 30 million for a 36-month term following public listing of SPARK Technologies shares. The proceeds from this financing will be used towards entry of new EU markets, massive scale-up of SPARK’s customer base and fleet size, and further advancement of the proprietary software systems.

SPARK is a privately owned company incorporated in Lithuania and an electric car sharing brand focused on improving everyday life by providing zero-emission, easily available and affordable commuting in major European cities.
