According to EU-Startups, one of the companies that tries to make solar power as accessible as possible is Zolar, which recently got a funding of 100 million euros. Energy Impact Partners, Inven Capital and Heartcore Capital are among those who financially supported the mission.

The Berlin-based startup was founded back in 2016 by Alex Melzer and Gregor Loukidis as a digital platform for individual solar installations made for the specific needs of households for green energy.

The startup offers a completely digital shopping experience for photovoltaic panels, which may be one of the reasons as to why its customer growth quadrupled in 2022.

Alex Melzer, CEO and Founder of Zolar, said that “our goal is to supply ten million households in Europe with either a solar system or renewable energy by 2030. The climate crisis, energy security issues and the rising cost of fossil fuels mean we must move very quickly. By offering a fully digital experience, we help people go green, become energy independent and save costs."

Solar power is one of the green energy resources that we must use if we want to meet our climate goals for the half of this century.

Zolar plans that, through the new investment, it will be able to deliver new digital products with features such as an energy management system and a dynamic electricity tariff.

After this year's energy rises, the customer base of the company more than quadrupled, and in order to meet demand, Zolar will increase its Craftship Partner Network from 500 local craft businesses to 3.000 by 2025.

Matthias Dill, Managing Partner Europe at Energy Impact Partners, said that "the demand for green energy will steeply accelerate in the world’s efforts to a net-zero future. Climate tech will drive the modern economy accelerating the transition to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions."
