Per Electrive, the Swedish company states that each battery pack has a capacity of 90 kWh, with customers being able to put up to six of these battery packs in a truck, totaling 540 kWh.

The battery plant will be operated entirely from renewable energy, with the batteries being designed to be reused later.

Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks, said that "by integrating the battery assembly process in our production flow, we can shorten lead times for our customers and secure high-performing batteries, while at the same time increase circularity."

Battery-powered Volvo heavy-duty trucks have been made available for ordering recently, with the production starting in Q3, 2022 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
