According to Green Car Reports, the new CH-R Prologue Concept is designed to support a plug-in hybrid power train as well as the already available full hybrid one.

According to Toyota, the batteries used by the CH-R plug-in hybrid will be sourced from Europe, as the model will be available in the region, for now.

As the bZ4X just made its way into Europe as Toyota's first EV in the region, the Japanese manufacturer plans to release an additional five battery-powered models.

The bZ Compact SUV concept, which was recently presented, could be one of these models, while the bZ 3 sedan is another potential EV that Toyota might release in the future in Europe.

Gill Pratt, head of the Toyota Research Institute, said that "owing to the current short supply and high costs of battery materials and lack of infrastructure, it is better to use a combination of battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric and hybrid electric vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions over the next 10-15 years."
