Euronews.green states that February saw slightly higher wind production, at 27% compared to 26% in the first month of 2023.
Nicolas Fulghum, Energy and Climate Data Analyst at Ember, says that Sweden's investments in wind turbines is proving itself as a great solution for clean power production.
He said that "higher wind generation makes Sweden’s grid more resilient against droughts, and protects consumers from high costs."
Sweden is one of the countries with high ambitions regarding the green future, as it aims to source all of its energy requirements from renewables by 2040 and five years after that, it plans to become a net-zero country.
Sweden installed 2.4 GW of wind power capacity last year, enough to power over 1.500.000 homes.
Wind and solar installations are two of the most effective ways to generate green power and become energy independent as they don't depend on the climate as much as hydro or nuclear power plants do, for example.
Experts at Ember believe that EU countries should have at least 76GW of installed renewable power by 2026 if climate goals are to be reached.
Any thoughts?
