According to Euronews.green, Ørsted’s Eleven Mile Solar Center covers over 8 million square meters and it packs 857.000 solar panels, as well as over 2.000 cube-like structures that contain the clean energy storage devices.

The Danish company also has other solar-powered storage projects already developed in Europe and Texas. Ørsted CEO Mads Nipper, said that "solar farms only produce when the sun shines, and the turbines only produce when the wind blows. For us to maximize the availability of the green power, 24-7, we have to store some of it too."

The battery-powered system can offer sufficient power for around 65.000 homes during peak demand hours.

Batteries allow companies such as Ørsted to offer customers a constant flow of energy even when renewables, such as solar and wind energy, can't produce enough electricity. Usually, the batteries are being filled during the day, when demand is usually low, and they slowly provide energy in the evening, when people start using electronics more often.
