According to the information released by Danmarks Statistik, the influx of new and imported used electric cars and plug-in hybrids in 2021 has more than doubled the stocks since 2020.

The number of electric cars at the turn of the year is 66,600 against 31,900 a year ago, while there are 77,900 plug-in hybrids against 29,700 at the end of 2020.

The two fuel types account for 5.2 percent of today's stock of 2.79 mill. passenger cars against 2.4 percent a year ago.

The total influx of new passenger cars in 2021 was 186,600 in actual terms or 6.2 percent lower than in 2020.

The supply to households decreased by 16,800 to 107,500 cars, while it increased by 4,500 in the industries to 79,100.

The inflow of fossil-fueled cars - petrol and diesel - amounted to 121,200, and it was 27.2 percent fewer than in 2020, while electric cars increased by 75 percent to 24,900 and plugin hybrids with 122 percent to 40,500.

The electric cars and plug-in hybrids together accounted for 35% of the new cars in 2021.

In December, 4,800 electric cars accounted for 26.7% of the new passenger cars calculated in actual figures against 20.2% in November.

With 5,500 cars in December, plug-in hybrids accounted for 30.9% of the new cars against 24.3%In November.

2,900 of this went to households, which corresponds to 29.5% of their new cars against 24.1% in November. The remaining 2,600 cars went to the industries, corresponding to 32.8% of their inflow in December against 24.5% in November.
