ESG Today reports that CarbonCure was founded back in 2012 in Nova Scotia, Canada, and it offers concrete producers captured carbon emissions, which can be used when manufacturing more sustainable concrete mixes.

Using CarbonCure's technology, concrete manufacturers can used captured CO2 to strengthen the end product, while using less of the base material for the process, which is cement. The less cement we use, the better, as this material accounts for 8% of the global carbon footprint.

When manufacturing one ton of cement, industry experts estimate that around 900 kilograms of carbon emissions are being freed in the atmosphere.

Concrete is the most used building material in the world and we use around 30 billion tons every year in construction projects worldwide. With CarbonCure's technology, its environmental impact is reduced by around 5% per truckload.

Robert Niven, CEO of CarbonCure said that "entering this agreement with Deloitte Canada is pivotal in our mission to make a positive impact on the construction industry’s environmental footprint, accelerating the global deployment of our solution."
