As per Electrive, part of the 133 million USD will be used to also perfect the company's AI-based software platform, called WingspanAI, while expanding the company's presence in the US and beyond. So far, Monarch Tractor raised over 220 million USD from investors.
The company's MK-V tractor can be operated with a driver or autonomously, being programmed to certain tasks and it can also follow another vehicle on the field in what is called shadow mode. It uses real-time sensor data and camera feed for the operations, meaning that these can be adjusted on-the-go.
Monarch's tractor was launched less than two years ago and since that moment, it deployed over 400 vehicles for field operations, “resulting in more than 850 tons of harmful CO2 emissions offset across 42,000 hours of tractor operations."
These tractors are now being used for farming operations such as vineyards and land management across 12 US states and three countries.
