Tesla started the production of the Model Y at Giga Berlin in March, and according to Electrek, the American carmaker is currently making 350 cars per week, aiming to increase production to 1.000 units per week by the end of this month.

While Tesla didn't give any guidelines for production when it opened the factory, the carmaker confirmed that it will be using 2170 batteries for the Model Y produced at Giga Berlin.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, said that the manufacturer will switch to its new structural battery pack architecture with the new 4680 battery cells "in a few months."

Sources claim that now the company pushed this process back to the end of the year and will require a factory shutdown which will last a few weeks.
