According to New Atlas, Squad Mobility was launched as a startup in 2019 by two former Lightyear colleagues, who wanted to make an affordable EV for the masses.

Similarly to the Citroen Ami and the Renault Twizy, the car is mostly destined for urban mobility, judging by its size, and it can power itself through the integrated solar panel on the roof.

The interior of the car can host two people and it features a simple, yet functional design, like the aforementioned brothers above.

The rather deep and flat dashboard can work like a small workspace for the passenger, who can rest a laptop there and even put a Bluetooth speaker in one of the two cupholders.

The space in the "trunk" behind the two seats is a rather claustrophobic 68 liters, but still enough for the everyday rides in the city, so you can fit some groceries there.

If you need more space and you drive alone, folding the passenger seat will expand the interior space to a somewhat hatchback-sized 243 liters.

The microcar will probably be homologated under Europe's L6e light electric quadricycle category, again, similar to the Ami and the Twizy.

The little car has front and rear crash structures, with the doors being removable.

Being only 2 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, the car can be parked in many places where a regular car, even a hatchback, can only dream of.

The car is equipped with two-2kW electric motors that are integrated in the rear wheels and they're able to propel the vehicle at 45 km/h.

The lithium-ion batteries offer a range of up to 100 kilometers and they have the advantage of being easily swappable if the case may be, since they sport a suitcase-like design.

During a normal European sunny day, the car can add up to 20 km of range back to the batteries through the integrated solar panels in the roof, and if you want to charge them the old-fashioned way, you can do that at any 220V outlet.

The price varies, from 6.250 euros for the most basic version, to 9.300 euros for the top of the line, Signature Edition model.

Production will start in 2023, with the Netherlands being the first market for the vehicle, after which the company will move to the eastern and southern side of the continent.
