Nuclear Power Daily reports that France, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia are among the countries that agreed to "support new projects", as well as existing nuclear power plants during a meeting EU energy ministers held in Stockholm.

Also, the ministers that represented the 11 countries are also taking into account further collaboration regarding the development of new nuclear technologies and to address safety issues together.

France, which is one of Europe's powers regarding nuclear power, was looking forward to building such an alliance on the continent for some time.

Country officials believe that nuclear power can not only help Europe achieve energy independence, but it can also aid in the production of green hydrogen.

Austria, Germany, and Luxembourg opposed the development of nuclear power on the continent, claiming that it would take too long for the power plants to be built, time in which renewable sources could generate clean energy.
