As per ESG Today, 2017-founded CEV invests in companies that commercialize advanced energy technologies and business model innovations that can create a more sustainable energy market, both for manufacturing and consuming. Companies that want to receive some of the funding will have to provide a roadmap for eliminating at least 2.5 gigatons of CO2 emissions by 2050. CEV officials say they will focus investments in areas such as clean mobility, renewable energy and carbon capture.

Temple Fennell, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Clean Energy Ventures, said that "demand for climate investment opportunities is rising from all corners of the globe, and we are grateful for the amount of interest from our new and existing LPs. As we look to scale decarbonization technologies globally, we’re doubling down on our thesis to invest in novel hardware-oriented climate-saving technologies with the potential to bring outsized emissions reductions and top-tier financial returns."

The private investor said that its recent 305 million USD fund, called Fund II, will enable to expand investing opportunities in North America, as well as to reach new climate technology entrepreneurs in Europe.
