As per Electrive, Nissan's commitment to invest in Ampere should lead to the Japanese company benefiting from the upcoming technologies that will be developed by Renault's subsidiary. Ampere is Renault's division dedicated to researching and developing new types of electric vehicles, as the French company also announced that 2024 will be the final year when the popular Zoe EV will be manufactured.

Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said that "the investment opportunity in Ampere complements and strengthens Nissan’s ongoing electric push in Europe and will deliver numerous synergies, including cost efficiencies, regulatory compliance, and a broader range of EV products and powertrains."

The investment and continuous alliance between Renault and Nissan should help strengthen the Japanese carmaker's position in Europe when it comes to selling new EVs.

Luca de Meo, Renault Group CEO, added that "we are all engaged with the right mindset and welcome Nissan as a strong partner in our upcoming EV and Software pure player Ampere."
