ESG Today writes that the two solar facilities, due for completion in Q4 2024 and Q4 2025, have an individual production capacity of 200 MW. As per LRE officials, the two projects are set to offer not only economic benefits to local communities, but also to protect the environment by preserving native plant species and promoting soil health activities.

Jason Allen, LRE’s Chief Executive Officer, said that "we look forward to strengthening our relationships with Frio County and Brazoria County as we develop and operate the two facilities and deliver substantial and transformative benefits for local residents and communities for years to come, all while we support U.S. manufacturing."

Back in January, we wrote that Microsoft signed an eight-year strategic alliance with clean energy company QCells, including the supply of 12GW US-made solar panels, which will help the American tech corporation achieve its climate goals.

The deal represents an extension of a previous one, made last year, when the two companies agreed on a 2.5 GW procurement for solar panels. Additionally, QCells, a subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, said back in 2023 that it planned to invest over 2.5 billion USD to build a complete solar panel supply chain in the US.
