According to Charged EVs, the company also showcased a prototype for the eActros LongHaul that features an electric-power take-off system, which makes it suitable for construction applications, as well.

Besides the eActros, Mercedes-Benz presented the electric prototype for the Arocs construction truck, which comes in the form of a mixer with high ground clearance that gives it good off-road capabilities for tougher conditions.

Mercedes-Benz officials say that around 20% of the trucks sold by the company in Europe are from the construction sector, as this is the second most important division following long distance transport.

Karin Rådström, CEO Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said that "we are working on a completely CO2-neutral portfolio, including the demanding construction segment."

"It is a very complex area for electrification due to the wide variety of applications. Partnerships between vehicle manufacturers and bodybuilders are therefore crucial to offer our customers the right solutions", she added.
