According to Electrive, Hyundai and Swiss energy company H2 Energy also established Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility in Germany, and the newly founded company will help the South Korean manufacturer expand its presence in the market of fuel-cell powered vehicles in Europe.

Officials from the South Korean company also mentioned that they will "leverage this opportunity to further expand its business into the wider European commercial vehicle market, following its successful entry into Germany."

It's not the first country to use this type of trucks from Hyundai. Switzerland already makes use of 47 XCIENT hydrogen fuel cell trucks, which have been driven for some four million kilometers in total.

Hyundai plans to deliver another 1.600 fuel cell-powered commercial vehicles by the end of 2025.

The XCIENT trucks are powered by a 180kW hydrogen fuel cell system, which should offer as much as 400 kilometers of range.

Refilling the vehicle's tanks should take between 8 and 20 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature, Hyundai officials mention.

Besides Europe, the South Korean brand also makes the XCIENT available in the US and China.
