According to Electrive, the electric powertrain is the only known part of the upcoming EVs, as Hyundai ordered 181 hp electric motor systems from BorgWarner.

The electric powertrain can also be less powerful, depending on the customer's needs, so Hyundai might not use the whole power the system is capable of delivering.

Hyundai’s marketing boss for the European region, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, confirmed the company's plans to develop at least one small electric car for the markets on the continent, with the goal being to cost less than 20.000 euros.

The new small EV is to replace the i10 internal combustion model, as that is the only small city car in the A-segment offered right now by the Korean brand.

Other reports suggest that Hyundai might be working on a slightly larger variant of the upcoming EV, which could be a crossover or SUV, and the two cars might be launched one year apart, one in 2023 and the other in 2024.
