The survey was done by Kantar for Mercedes-Benz, according to Charged EVs, and the results show that 96% of the respondents in China are willing to go electric with regards to their next vehicle.

In Germany, 80% of the drivers want to buy an EV in the coming years, while in the US, 68% of the survey participants would consider an EV as their next option.

Also, people looking into buying a new vehicle care more about the online shopping experience than they did in the past, as "online contact with the provider is increasingly important and considered equally important as personal contact for the majority of respondents."

In-car payment is also considered by some drivers to be a competitive advantage, to which drivers in China are the most excited about, at a rate of 46%.

In-car payments essentially means that the car can pay for different services, such as road taxes, petrol or electricity and insurance, by itself when connected to the network.

Drivers, particularly in Germany and the US, also prefer to finance their vehicles instead of purchasing them upfront.

Franz Reiner, Chairman of the Board of Mercedes-Benz Mobility, said that "we perceive a clear push towards e-mobility and a desire for more financial flexibility among car drivers."

"The study thus confirms our strategy of paving the way to green mobility with flexible financing options", the executive added.
