According to Reuters, Mike Cannon-Brookes was recently named chairman of Sun Cable, a Singapore-based startup specialized in clean power, which is looking to get around 20 billion dollars to complete one of its most ambitious projects.

Sun Cable aims to supply solar power generated in Australia all the way to Singapore and Indonesia through what might be the world's longest subsea high voltage cable system at 4.500 km.

The solar farm will have a capacity of 17-20 GW and power will also be supplied from a 42 GWh energy storage facility, also located in Australia.

Mike Cannon-Brookes said that "Australia can and should be a global leader in clean energy exports. Sun Cable is at the forefront of making Australia a renewable energy superpower."

Sun Cable Chief Executive David Griffin thinks that Cannon-Brookes is the right man to "rapidly building a business to a global scale", pointing to his previous experience.

The construction of the whole power system should start around 2024 and, if completed, it will start supplying energy in 2029.
