Electrive reports that hydrogen-powered tractors will be used in the H2Agrar project in Lower Saxony in order to develop the technology for other agricultural applications.

The two tractors that will be used in a farm starting next month will be fueled by green hydrogen produced by wind power plants in the region.

Fendt is one of the companies that presented other technologies meant to cut the emissions coming from the farming sector, such as a battery-powered tractor back in 2017.

Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, said that "I see hydrogen as a very important solution to problems in agriculture and forestry. Agriculture and forestry can supply a lot of energy, which can also be used to generate hydrogen."
