According to Electrive, the American carmaker awaits permitting from German officials, which is required to expand the factory.

It is unknown what the production capacity will be after the expansion of the facility, but Minister of Economic Affairs Jörg Steinbach said that "Brandenburg is increasingly developing into a weighty location for the modern automotive industry in Germany, and Tesla, as Brandenburg’s largest industrial employer and trainer by now, has a decisive share in this."

Tesla hasn't yet reached peak capacity for the first section of the facility, which outputs 2.000 vehicles per week since the end of September.

The American carmaker aims to bump production to 5.000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2023, as company officials hope to be able to roll out 500.000 electric cars per year from the Grünheide facility.
