The eActros is a heavy-duty electric truck for distribution that looks very similar to the regular Actros diesel trucks and the model was available from the end of February, 2022.

According to Electrive, the eActros LongHaul is a model with an aerodynamic body style that was initially uncovered in 2020.

The 40 tons electric truck will be destined for the long-distance segment and will have a range of up to 500 kilometers.

With the first prototypes undergoing initial testing, Daimler said it will test the new eActros LongHaul by the end of the year on public roads. The company didn't provide images of the prototypes, but here is an example of how it should look, based on the renders shown in 2020.

Daimler didn't specify anything regarding the electric motor or the battery system, either, so the real-life performance of the truck remains to be seen.

The German truck maker announced that there are "additional variants of the eActros" coming, which means that more models will join the eActros 300 and the eActros 400, which have an estimated range of 300 and 400 kilometers respectively.

Since April, the eActros has been equipped with a new generation of the MirrorCam, which offers improvements in display and safety features, since "the perspective of the MirrorCam is now more similar to that of the familiar glass mirror."

One of the eActros' competitors is the Nikola Tre truck, which should be delivered from the second quarter of this year.

The Nikola Tre is a battery powered truck with an estimated range of 563 kilometers, and Nikola aims to deliver between 300 and 500 trucks this year, with production growing from 2023.
