According to Autocar, the UrbanRebel will follow after the Cupra Born, which is the Spanish version of the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Cupra Tavascan, which should be available from 2024.

The Cupra UrbanRebel will be one of the three more or less identical mini EVs from the Volkswagen Group, one of which will replace the Volkswagen e-Up and that could be called ID.Life or ID.1.

The third brand that will integrate the upcoming vehicle in the lineup is Skoda, which will possibly use it to replace the Citigo-e iV.

Despite Volkswagen planning to keep the price of the entry variant at around 20.000 euros, Cupra will charge a little bit of a premium giving the sporty aspirations for its vehicle, which could start at around 25.000.

Despite the price differences, all three models will be manufactured at the Martorell facility in Spain and the vehicles will be produced on top a modified version of the MEB EV platform that is currently used by the likes of the ID.3, among other models.

Cupra gave some early performance figures for the front-wheel drive model, stating that it will sport a 231 hp electric motor that can propel the vehicle from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.9 seconds.

The company said that the range version of the vehicle is capable of reaching an impressive 440 kilometers on a single charge, which it's not bad for its size, but of course this can get way lower if you drive the car in a sporty manner.

Just like with the Born, Cupra will focus on sustainability as well when it comes to building the UrbanRebel, featuring recycled polymers and other "bio-based" materials for the interior of the car.
