ESG Today reports that company officials claim this to be the largest investment in ocean carbon capture technologies to day.

We covered carbon capture startups and companies for some time now, as this technology is one of the most needed in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and to clean up the air that we breathe.

Ebb Carbon was founded back in 2021 and besides carbon removal from the atmosphere, it also aims to restore the ocean's chemistry by reducing its acidity levels, which are quite high, as these can damage marine ecosystems.

Ben Tarbell, CEO and Co-Founder of Ebb Carbon, said that "if we want to avoid the most drastic impacts of climate change, the science is very clear that we will need to remove billions of tons of already-emitted CO2 from the atmosphere. The ocean is a natural and vastly underutilized ally in this fight."

"Our approach combines capture and storage into one step, by accelerating naturally occurring processes that benefit from the immensity of the ocean’s surface area. This enables one of the lowest cost solutions for atmospheric CO2 removal at scale", he added.

Prelude Ventures and Evok Innovations were among those who participated in this investment round.
