ESG Today reports that, according to Amazon, this effort pushes the company to its ultimate goal of achieving 100% renewable power supply for its operations by 2025, well-ahead of its initial 2030 target.

Company officials also claim that in 2023, over 90% of Amazon's operations were powered by clean power. Last year, Amazon invested in renewable projects situated in nine European countries, including Germany, Belgium, France and Italy. The American company now owns more than 500 wind and solar projects around the world.

Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS) said that "Amazon’s investments in solar and wind projects are helping power our operations, while also providing new sources of clean energy to the grid, spurring economic growth, and supporting jobs in the communities where our customers live and work."

Over 2023, an additional 13 clean power projects have been added over the Asia Pacific region in countries such as China and South Korea.
