As per Electrive, the new record stands at 2.573 kilometers on a single charge, as the battery-powered car drove for 99 hours in an empty airport hangar to break the record. As with previous electric car range races, lightweight materials and improved aerodynamics were key to the success.

TUfast Eco team members said that "countless hours of work in addition to our studies went into preparing for the record. This makes us all the more happy that we now hold the world record."

Interestingly, the car used to break the old record was an older generation compared to what the students were able to manufacture and showcase this year in May, but it was still lightweight and aerodynamic enough to push through and comfortably win.
