According to Electrive, the innovation comes in the fact that L-Charge is using an off-the-grid solution, which implies that the company makes use of hydrogen or LNG or both in order to generate the necessary power.

The solution developed by the British company is able to deliver as much as 130 kW of power.

L-Charge has three types of charging stations, fixed, mobile or floating.

Fixed stations can be deployed throughout the city in important locations, such as malls and stadiums, but also on the highway, while the mobile solution is ensured by trucks that drives around the city on demand.

Floating stations are special, since they are placed on fully autonomous boats that can be summoned to charge electric vessels.

Currently being available in Frankfurt for trials, the mobile charging stations will also be deployed to Düsseldorf and Stuttgart for further testing.

If the tests prove to be successful, other countries in Europe will be able to benefit from the mobile-charging station service.
