According to The Recursive, a company called Infinity Toy Box already operates in Bulgaria and it offers toy rental services.
This kind of business made its way in Romania as well in 2016 through Evertoys. The company was evaluated at €1.5 million in 2019 after it secured investments from its partners, among which are Seedblink and VG Partners.
These two companies work on monthly plans and offer toys, books and games that they purchase from manufacturers or distributors.
The cheapest Evertoy plan, for example, allows parents to pick two toys and a book, with upgrade possibilities if they want to offer their children a more expensive toy.
Toy rental platforms help the environment, too, since the toy industry contributes to plastic pollution.
Boryana Levterova, co-founder at Infinity Toy Box, claims that in this industry for each $1 million in revenue there are about 40 tons of plastic being used.
The biggest issue here is that most toys aren't even recyclable due to their composition and, what's worse, is that about a third of the parents say that they threw away toys in "perfect condition".
Toy renting helps when it comes to decluttering the kid's toy box, it spares toy shopping and even assembly, for toys rented from Infinity Toy Box.
Furthermore, after kids get bored with their current toys, it is easier for parents to pass the on or even sell them.
Evertoys is also budget friendly since it is cheaper to rent, rather than purchase toys, especially since the value of an Evertoys box in retail is about 4 to 5 times higher than the monthly subscription.
