According to Reuters, the center will be managed by the British Geological Survey and it will aim to use the collected data in order to find new sources of minerals for the green technologies, such as wind turbines, smartphones and EVs.

Minister for industry Lee Rowley said that "as the world shifts towards new green technologies, supply chains will become more competitive."

Researchers at the Critical Minerals Intelligence Center will be studying future demand and supply of minerals that will be needed for things like EV batteries.

The new center can also help with regards to the country's ambition to establish an EV industry.

A Critical Minerals Strategy for Britain will be made based on the research that will be conducted.
