As per ESG Today, 2023-founded Graphyte offers a low-cost carbon removal solution that uses natural processes, such as photosynthesis. The company approaches carbon removal from a different angle, by solidifying and compressing biomass, including residues from farming and forestry. The resulted carbon blocks are stored underground in an impermeable polymer layer.

The process, company officials say, consumes little energy and preserves almost all emissions, while being low-cost and scalable, meaning that companies can implement it, depending on their needs.

Graphyte commissioned its first carbon capture facility in Arkansas, which can reach a capture capacity of 50.000 tons per year at the beginning of 2025.

Barclay Rogers, CEO of Graphyte, said that "Graphyte aims to be the largest durable carbon dioxide removal supplier in the world. We are thrilled to work with... climate investors to start bringing durable carbon removals to scale using our proprietary Carbon Casting process."

Prelude Ventures and Carbon Direct Capital are the two main investors that financed the 30 million USD round.
