According to ESG Today, the upcoming programs are to be established under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which was created through last year's Inflation Reduction Act. The programs' purpose is finding solid solutions in the fight against climate change.

In total, three programs will be established in this regard, one of them already being launched and worth 7 billion USD. Its purpose is the deployment of residential and community solar projects, which will be helping out low-income communities.

US Vice President Kamala Harris said that "for years, one of the missing pieces in our strategy to fight the climate crisis is that we have not invested at scale in community climate action… Today, I am proud to announce the largest investment in financing for community-based climate projects in our nation’s history."

Officials added that 14 billion USD belonging of the National Clean Investment Fund are also part of the programs and as much as 40% of the investments will be benefiting low-income and vulnerable communities.

Some of the actors who will benefit from the financing are construction companies who will install energy-efficient appliances, but also small businesses who aim to have a completely carbon-neutral fleet of vehicles.
