ESG Today writes that the Bezos Earth Fund was founded back in 2020, with a $10 billion philanthropic commitment from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to support companies, researchers and NGOs that fight to benefit our climate on the long term.

So far, 230 grants have been offered through the fund, which amount to 2 billion USD, with the rest 8 billion being distributed completely by 2030.

"Can modern AI help counter climate change and nature loss, and, if so, how? That’s the question we hope to answer. By bringing together brilliant minds across fields, we may be able to invent new ways forward", said Jeff Bezos, founder at Amazon.

Applications for the challenge will open in May, 2024 and the first phase awardees will be announced at the Climate Week NYC in late September.
