Euronews.green writes that wind power could serve communities that lack access to energy, but are located near areas that have great renewable potential. Officials at Possible say that "replacing gas boilers with clean home heating will be vital to protect the climate. At the moment, one seventh of the UK’s emissions come from home heating."

Nordic countries in Europe already make use of the two resources, as wind power is more efficient during moody weather, when winds pick up and the sun lays low, while heat pumps work well during cold weather, as well.

Using heat pumps and renewable energy to heat our homes, instead of gas boilers, could lead to emission savings of up to 90%. At the same time, renewable-run heat pumps are two-thirds less polluting than model running on grid power.

"The problem is that we’re just not moving fast enough to replace gas boilers with heat pumps. To speed this up and make this easier for people, we need heat pumps to be cheaper than gas boilers", Possible officials explained.

One of the main issues when it comes to increasing the adoption of renewable power, whether it's solar or wind, is that permitting is still a limiting factor for European countries. Legislators should focus their work on easing the permitting process, so that projects can be implemented faster and in regions where they can help cut the most emissions or help people get access to cheaper electricity.
