As per ESG Today, additionally, the American technology company will also invest in sustainable aviation fuels to cut its carbon share across the Americas, Asia and Europe. DHL's GoGreen Plus solution aims to help the company's customers adopt cleaner transport fuels for different forms of cargo transport.
The new partnership follows a pilot project implemented by the two organizations, also on lowering transport-related emissions.
Omar Molina, Director of Global Transportation at Google said that “Google has a goal to achieve net-zero emissions across our operations and value chain by 2030. Optimizing how we transport Google devices around the world is a key part of this journey. The SAF program is a big step forward in that direction."
DHL's Sustainability Roadmap, launched in 2021, includes a series of sustainability-focused commitments which introduced more ambitious climate targets. One of those sees the logistics company use 30% SAF in all its flights by 2030.
John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, added that "we are confident that this agreement and Google’s meaningful investment will encourage others to take the same initiative and drive the transition to low-emission transportation services using sustainable aviation fuel."
