FieldSense is a startup that was founded back in 2015 in Denmark with the main purpose being to improve weather information services for farmers.

From 2018, the startup offers hyper local weather services so that farmers can respond to potential issues that can arise on and around their fields.

To achieve this goal successfully, the company placed solar panel based weather stations around the fields where farmers grow crops so they can detect weather changes more precisely and plan their activity more efficiently.

According to tech.eu, John Smedeegard, FieldSense CEO said that "the investment will help us bring better weather information to farmers. With the joint support from our current investors, we'll be intensifying our efforts to obtain a stronger market presence in existing and new markets in Europe."

Managing partner in AgriFood at Rockstart Mark Durno stated that "with thousands of operational weather stations already installed, FieldSense has more weather sensors than many governments. Their ability to 'map' microclimate efficiently and affordably gives the granularity and accuracy that farmers need to plan and mitigate climate risk properly."

Henning Haar, Group CEO at Danish Agro commented: "The future is digital in farming and FieldSense have developed some great solutions that adds value to the modern farmer."

FieldSense have established themselves since 2018 as a strong player in weather services in Scandinavia, the Baltic region and Northern Germany, where they offer microclimatic information provided by the 2000 weather stations to their 1400 clients.
