ESG Today writes that London-based UNDO was founded in 2022 and it develops carbon removal projects with rock enhanced weathering. The company's technology is using an existing process, which accelerates the natural geological phenomena by spreading crushed silicate rocks on agricultural lands, contributing to more productive crops, as well.
The two companies signed another agreement back in 2023 for the removal of 5.000 tons of CO2 emissions, which involved spreading 25.000 tons of crushed basalt on farming land in the UK. To remove 15.000 tons of CO2, UNDO will now spread 65.000 tons of basalt powder across UK and Canada-based farmlands.
The new funding will also enable UNDO to establish a new research center, which will allow the company to measure, report and verify soil-based carbon removal projects in the future.
Jim Mann, CEO and Founder of UNDO, said that "we are eager to continue our work advancing the science of enhanced rock weathering by scaling up our research and data-gathering capabilities, which will be greatly facilitated by Microsoft’s continued backing."
Any thoughts?
