As per ESG Today, 2017-founded Signol provides companies with behavioral science-based and data driven solutions in order to help those motivate their employees to adopt more sustainable behaviors. The company initially focused on the aviation and maritime sectors, and it now offers a communication platform that companies can use when training new and existing crew to drive them in the mission to save on fuel, for example.
Analyzing the data obtained from operations, the company's software can determine how crews can save the most on fuel, while also understanding the impact of their existing actions.
Michael Fanning, Signol’s CEO, said that "securing investment from industry-leading companies like Ultranav and MOL is a significant endorsement from the maritime industry that our human-centric approach is seen as a critical lever in companies’ sustainability strategies."
Ultranav and New York-based TMV participated in the investment round, with the funds being used to continue the development of the solutions, as Signol managed to so far help partners save on 100.000 tons of fuel.
Ultranav’s Per Lange said that "during my 40+ year maritime career, I’ve seen first-hand that it’s not always straightforward to appropriately engage crew members in efficiency initiatives without adding to their workload and mental stress. With a strong foundation in behavioral science, Signol’s solution enables crew members to contribute as much as possible to sustainability goals while also improving the day-to-day experience at sea for our vital workforce."
