According to ESG Today, Heineken aims to decarbonize its whole supply chain in the future in response to climate change, among other measures, to reduce its impact on the environment.

Earlier this year, in May, Heineken also announced the "Packing the Future" initiative, a program which aims to work with the beermaker's top 50 suppliers in order to help them set science-based emissions reduction targets.

One of the ways suppliers can improve their environmental impact is by switching to renewable energy for their entire operations.

The Dutch company presented a set of changes last year which should help it decarbonize its own production by 2030 and its entire value chain by 2040.

Company officials claim that value chain emissions account for some 90% of Heineken's entire environmental footprint and packaging makes for 27% of that.
