According to Clean Tehnica, the company was founded back in 2017 and it was among the first to deliver locally manufactured motorcycles and buses.

Roam is one of the most important providers of electric vehicles in Africa.

East African countries, Kenya included, rely quite a bit on motorcycles for personal transport, and accordingly, motorcycle sales in the country grew by 15.6% in 2021 compared to the previous year.

It is estimated that some 5 million fossil-powered motorcycles roam the roads of East Africa.

It took Roam a few years of research and development before it was able to build the ideal electric motorcycle for the African road network.

By adopting electric motorcycles like the one offered by the Swedish-Kenyan company, CO2 emissions on the continent could be significantly reduced.

Roam Air's main advantage is the purchase price and the lower maintenance cost compared to petrol-powered bikes.

The Roam Air is priced at 1.500 USD, which is close to fossil-based rivals, but the electric motorcycle has nearly 70% lower running costs.

Roam's bike is powered by as many as two 3.24 kWh batteries, which can provide up to 180 km of range, or 90 km if you opt to only use one.

The nominal power of the bike is rated at 3000W and it allows for a top speed of up to 90 km/h, which can be reached in five seconds.

Single battery models weigh in at 135 kg and it takes 4 hours to charge the bike.

Also, the rider can remove the batteries from the bike, if he so desires.

The motorcycle has five riding modes, Eco, Standard, Power, Sports and Reverse and it even features a USB charging port so you can juice up your phone, for example, while on the go.
