ESG Today writes that aviation as a sector is responsible for 2-3% of the global carbon emissions output and that share is only coming from the use of fossil fuels. Improving aircraft efficiency and large-scale production of sustainable aviation fuels are two of the ways aviation companies could become more sustainable and planet-friendly.
More and more countries and companies are now looking at investing important amounts of money in order to make sure that the aerospace industry will be able to hit its environmental goals.
Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, said that "today’s $350 million investment to support the Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology will help drive and accelerate the green industrial transformation of Canada’s aerospace industry, generating high-value jobs while strengthening supply chains and supporting the transition to a net-zero economy.”
Aircraft redesign and finding alternative propulsion systems, such as hybrid and electric, are among the priorities of Canada's 350 million funding.
Any thoughts?
